Jakarta morning was raining while the majority of its citizens was enjoying the sports & exercises in the area of car free day Sudirman – Thamrin. In one area around the shopping center fX Sudirman sounds rhythmic beat up music boom that attracted the attention of the public, apparently there was an ongoing exercise Zumba fun which is one of the events of ASEAN It’s Time! Ready For AEC!

The event was organized by the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia in cooperation with Centre For ASEAN Public Relations Studies and Jak TV in order to introduce the public to the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC), which will soon take place in the near future. LSPR Jakarta itself is the first private university to sign a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in education, research/scientific assessment and community service with the Directorate General of ASEAN Cooperation Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia.

The next activity after exercise zumba is a mini talk show that discussed about what the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) and how we deal with it, but before that our friends from LSPR Modelling conducted a flag parade of the ten member countries of ASEAN. On this occasion Ms. Past Novel Larasaty, MA as the moderator and Mrs. Ir. Netty Muharni, MURP-assistant deputy regional and sub-regional Coordinating Ministry of Economy was the speaker for the morning talk show that was held last Sunday, December 20, 2015

In this talk she explained that the Indonesian people should not be afraid to face the MEA especially Indonesia produces more than 8 million graduates S1 which can can compete in the international area. Not a bit of it’s challenge that  we must face as competitiveness is still lacking, concerns about the proliferation of imported products, energy constraints and product homogeneity. However, all of the challenges that will surely be overcome if the community together with the government can respond well and maximum effort to the people of Indonesia can compete in the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC)

The next event filled with entertainment from LSPR Cheerleaders – Wilderbeast and Raras sung the Anthem ASEAN, ASEAN Song of Unity and medley Drag Me Down (One Direction) and I Knew You Were Trouble (Taylor Swift). This event was expected to provide knowledge to the public in order to prepare for the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC), be ready Indonesia! (Nanda / Desy)
