H.E. Djauhari Oratmangun presented a lecture titled “The Role of The Youth Toward ASEAN Vision 2025” in front of 150 students from 7 ASEAN countries as well as committee and general participants. He stated “ASEAN 2025 envisioned a peaceful, stable and resilient Community with enhanced capacity to respond effectively to challenges. We also envision vibrant, sustainable and highly integrated economies, enhanced ASEAN Connectivity as well as strengthened efforts in narrowing the development gap, including through the IAI.”
ASEAN’s promising economic growth over the past few years has helped to spread wealth across the region, including creating more middle-class populations. The ASEAN region currently supports a growing middle class with high incomes and greater consumerism on goods and services. Young people (with working age population) provide a large demographic advantage for the region. In the hands of 160 million youth ASEAN is a big role in catalysing economic growth and a promising future. Social entrepreneurship can be the best solution to solve social problems by providing more jobs, eradicating unemployment and inequality, overcoming the negative and accommodating impacts of the growing middle class to gain the best potential for a better ASEAN.
