On 5 August 2024, LSPR Faculty of Business and LSPR Centre of ASEAN Public Relations Studies was thrilled to announce its role as the host of the 2nd ASEAN Youth Entrepreneur Forum 2024. This distinguished event is supported by Minister for Regional and Sub-Regional Economic Cooperation and organised in collaboration with Bersepeloeh Enterprise, an event organiser company founded by students majoring in Business Event & Enterprise, Faculty of Business, brought together around 100 aspiring young entrepreneurs from across ASEAN at the prestigious Prof. Dr. Djajusman Auditorium, located at LSPR Sudirman Park Campus in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Introducing The 2nd AYEF 2024, this forum promised a series of insightful activities designed to inspire and empower the next generation of entrepreneurs. Participants looked forward to engaging in stimulating panel discussions, attending informative conferences, enjoying captivating performances, and embarking on an exciting Heritage City Tour.
The 2nd ASEAN Youth Entrepreneur Forum 2024 was held on August 5-6, 2024, from 09.00 WIB to 17.00 WIB at the Prof. Dr. Djajusman Auditorium, LSPR Sudirman Park Campus, Jakarta. The event featured keynote speakers and panel discussions on topics such as Sustainable Tourism, Creative Industry, and Digital Business. The forum was co-hosted by esteemed universities including De La Salle University, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Christian University of Indonesia, Indonesia Banking School, and Esa Unggul University. The 2nd AYEF 2024 event was also attended participant by representatives from Binus University, University of Indonesia, Pasundan University, Tokyo International University, Triology University, and Trisakti University.

Yuliana Riana Prasetyawati, M.M. (Dean, Faculty of Business, LSPR)
Mrs. Yuliana Riana Prasetyawati, M.M., as the Dean of the Faculty of Business, LSPR, warmly welcomed everyone to the 2nd ASEAN Youth Entrepreneur Forum 2024. She expressed honour in hosting such a significant event that fosters regional collaboration and the entrepreneurial spirit among ASEAN youth. “Welcome to the 2nd ASEAN Youth Entrepreneur Forum 2024. Taufan Teguh Akbari, PhD (Vice Rector V, LSPR)
Mr. Taufan Teguh Akbari, PhD, Vice Rector V of LSPR, expressed his pride in hosting AYEF 2024. He highlighted the importance of the forum as a platform for sparking innovation and collaboration among ASEAN youth. “We are honoured to have such inspiring guests at AYEF 2024. This remarkable forum is a platform sparking innovation for the younger generation across ASEAN. AYEF is a ground for ideas, collaboration, and building an entrepreneurial ecosystem. Remember, you are the spark; you are the future of ASEAN.”
H.E. Ambassador Hjayceelyn M. Quintana (Permanent Representative of the Philippines to ASEAN)
Her Excellency Ambassador Hjayceelyn M. Quintana highlighted ASEAN’s favourable demographics and economic growth projections. She emphasised the importance of focusing on the digital era and green economy. “ASEAN has a strikingly favourable demographic, with over 400 million people under the age of 35. By 2030, half of ASEAN’s population will be middle class, and our economic growth is expected to double from $1.1 trillion to $2 trillion. With the widespread use of blockchain, IoT, AI, and more, we will focus on transforming into the digital era. The focus will be on active learning and the green economy, emphasising green energy, smart agriculture, climate change, and mitigation.”

Ir. Netty Muharni, MURP (Assistant Deputy Minister for Regional and Sub-Regional Economic Cooperation)
Ms. Ir. Netty Muharni, MURP, spoke about the importance of collaboration for success and building a prosperous future for ASEAN. “Collaboration is the key to success. By working together, we can achieve great things and build a prosperous future for ASEAN.”
Adhyanti Sardanarini Wirajuda (Director for ASEAN Economic Cooperation)
Ms. Adhyanti Sardanarini Wirajuda emphasised the resilience and potential of ASEAN youth, urging them to embrace technology and sustainability. “AYEF is a gathering that showcases the resilience and boundless potential of our regional youth. I see the faces of our future, individuals who will lead the nation and drive the economy. You will propel ASEAN into a new era of sustainability. The creative industry is growing greatly, shaping our identity and connecting our community. Sustainable tourism can make a difference, and the digital business landscape is rapidly evolving, offering unprecedented innovations and growth. Embrace technology to create businesses that are agile, scalable, and inclusive. Entrepreneurship is not just about success but about creating value for society and being responsible managers of our resources.”
Muhammad Iqbal Darmawan, M.Ikom (ASEAN Youth Ambassador)
Mr. Muhammad Iqbal Darmawan emphasised the importance of environmental sustainability and community-based tourism in ASEAN’s development. “When cities develop, challenges arise that can hinder the environment. It is imperative for us to take care of our environment. ASEAN, as the heart of development, believes that community-based tourism is a place for local communities to progress. Specifically, we must focus on the circular economy to motivate sustainability. By collaborating with private sectors and governments, we can create positive trends and more initiatives regarding sustainability.”
Mr. Paul Notorio, PhD (Dean, College of Tourism and Hospitality Management, De La Salle University, Philippines)
Dr. Paul Notorio highlighted the importance of adaptation, knowledge construction, and self-regulation in entrepreneurship. “Adaptation refers to the difficulty, immersion, and naturalisation of playing a role in entrepreneurship. Knowledge construction and self-regulation are key. The use of ICT and skilled communication teaches students how to communicate clearly and adapt to technologies.”
In Panel Discussion 1 talking about Sustainable Tourism Business John Emmanuel S. Manes from De La Salle University Philippines emphasized the impact of innovation on customer satisfaction and revenue in the restaurant industry, using PLS-SEM and SmartPLS to improve sustainable practices. Yochebel Liann E. Domondon, also from De La Salle University, discussed the readiness of Philippine resorts for GSTC accreditation and their focus on sustainability, aiming to enhance guest satisfaction and loyalty. Paul Anthony C. Notorio from De La Salle University Philippines highlighted the importance of tourism websites and actionable SDGs related to tourism, addressing issues of legitimacy and sustainability. Amela Inggrid Wibowo from LSPR Institute emphasized the role of women in supporting sustainable development goals through local products, with the motto “From woman to woman” driving economic growth and empowerment by creating new jobs.
In Panel Discussion 2 talking about Creative Industry Jiva Sadira Radita Putri from LSPR Institute introduced durable, pocket-size packaging for moisturizers aimed at Gen-Z and beauty enthusiasts, emphasizing improved scent and packaging. Asia Radhilla Puchon from LSPR Institute highlighted her brand’s focus on positive impact, supporting local farmers and creating job opportunities. Helen from Esa Unggul University discussed how psychological factors and work environment affect job satisfaction and reduce stress. Saddam Rafsanjanie from LSPR Institute presented an innovative food product with a focus on online orders and digital marketing. Mohd Azuan Bin Mohd Alias from UiTM Malaysia stressed the importance of creating opportunities for entrepreneurs and empowering students to pursue business ventures.
In Panel Discussion 3 talking about Digital and AI Entrepreneur Adelya Vasya Maharani from Indonesia Banking School discussed the benefits of decentralized finance for SMEs, highlighting improved transparency, transaction speed, and efficiency. Amzar Airil from UiTM Malaysia emphasized the positive impact of digital marketing and collaboration with digital companies in reaching wider audiences. Dr. Nik Roselina Nik Roseley from UiTM Malaysia stressed the importance of digitalization for SMEs, enhancing efficiency and customer experience through collaborations with companies like Google and Maxis. Marshelia Gloria Narida from the Christian University of Indonesia underscored the importance of understanding consumer behavior and adapting to trends, noting that FOMO drives clients to chase trends, necessitating flexibility and clear communication for freelancers.
As Closing Statement Ms. Mega Puspita Perwira Jaya, M.B.A., as the Chief Executive of AYEF expressed her gratitude to all participants for making the 2nd ASEAN Youth Entrepreneur Forum 2024 a success. On August 6, as part of the 2nd AYEF 2024 activities, Wanderlust Organizer held the Heritage City Tour. This event saw enthusiastic participation from representatives of UiTM Malaysia, De La Salle University, Esa Unggul University, Christian University of Indonesia, and LSPR.
The Heritage City Tour commenced with a visit to the ASEAN Secretariat, where participants had the opportunity to learn about the significant role the organization plays in regional cooperation and development. This visit provided an informative start to the day, setting the tone for the cultural immersion that followed.
After the ASEAN Secretariat visit, the group headed to Cafe Batavia for a delightful lunch. Located in the heart of Jakarta’s old town, Cafe Batavia is a historic venue that has preserved its colonial-era charm. Participants not only enjoyed a delicious meal but also absorbed the rich history and ambiance of the cafe, which is considered a heritage site in Jakarta.
Following lunch, the tour continued with a visit to the Fatahillah Museum, a cornerstone of Jakarta’s cultural heritage. The museum visit was both educational and engaging, offering participants a deeper understanding of the city’s history through its extensive collections of artifacts and exhibits.
One of the highlights of the tour was an enjoyable and interactive poetry class held at the museum. This session allowed participants to express their creativity and appreciate the art of poetry, adding a unique and memorable element to the day’s activities.
The Heritage City Tour concluded with a captivating traditional wayang performance, providing a glimpse into Indonesia’s rich artistic heritage. After the performance, participants had the opportunity to explore the vibrant Kota Tua area, where they could stroll through the historic streets, enjoy the local atmosphere, and purchase distinctive Jakarta souvenirs to commemorate their visit.
Overall, the Heritage City Tour was a well-rounded and enriching experience, combining educational visits, cultural activities, and leisurely exploration, leaving the participants with lasting memories of Jakarta’s heritage and history.

London School of Public Relations in association with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Republic of Indonesia, established the Centre for ASEAN Public Relations Studies (CAPRS) through the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between the Directorate General of ASEAN Cooperation and LSPR Jakarta on 13th October 2014.
The vision of CAPRS LSPR is to be a study centre that produces variety of researches, programs and publications that are in line with the three pillars of ASEAN Community, which are politics and security, economy and socio cultural, that especially implemented in Indonesian science and policies and also to improve the nation’s competitiveness. Particularly, CAPRS as the ASEAN Studies Centre’s establishments is in line with the Tri Dharma Principles in Higher Education institutions, which consists of three areas: Education, Research and Community Service, especially those which relate to the ASEAN Studies field.
The Missions of CAPRS are first, the Centre for ASEAN Public Relations Studies conducts research and scientific assessments on the cooperation and relations of the ASEAN region. The second purpose, community service in the form of socialisation and dissemination activities, counselling, lectures and dialogue that aims to increase knowledge and awareness, students, lecturers, organisers state or government, the organisers of social institutions, political, legal, religious and so on about relations and cooperation ASEAN regional. While the third is the publication of academic literature that provides real advantage to the advancement of science and the development of cooperation and relations on ASEAN regional harmony.
CAPRS has an event called ASEAN Talks and ASEAN Business Talks which aims to provide factual and compelling communications that clearly demonstrate the relevance and benefits of the ASEAN community to ASEAN stakeholders. This event also aims to build a sense of belonging and pride to be part of the ASEAN Community. At ASEAN Talks 11tt, present and a speaker Minister for Foreign Affairs of Republic Indonesia Ibu Retno Marsudi.
CAPRS also has a close partnership with ASEAN plus, especially the People’s Republic of China, which has sent more than 30 lecturers to attend seminars, workshops and won Masters scholarships in China.
CAPRS has also published various books to promote ASEAN such as ASEAN Travel Infographics, ASEAN Countries Against COVID 19.
CAPRS also collaborated with APRN to hold the First ASEAN Public Relations Regional Conference in Bali and was attended by academics and practitioners from various ASEAN member countries.
